Chesterfield 2 v Halifax 2
St Mary's School, Chesterfield

2-1 (0-0)
Goals: Callum Taylor x 2 (60, 69)
Player of the match : Callum Taylor

Chesterfield hosted Halifax in a reverse fixture from the previous weekend which finished with a Halifax 4-0 victory.
The home team were able to field a solid 11 and a half players for the game which meant energy levels needed to be reserved.

Chesterfield dominated possession and looked to have the better style of hockey on show. Christian Battye rolling back the years to pull the strings in the middle of the park, the half time whistle arrived with neither side threatening either goal too much.

In the second half Chesterfield started to dictate play and looked to be on top. The long ball approach of Halifax was comfortably dealt with Chesterfield's defence.

The game sprung into life with 10 minutes left on the clock. Callum Taylor opened the scoring, after moving into the attack from
midfield, when he lifed the ball over the prone 'keeper.

Shortly after, Matt Pickford drilled a ball across the pitch to find Taylor again at the top of the D. He stopped the ball superbly (his words!) and finished to seemingly put the 2s up by 2 goals. However it was not to be the case as the goal was disallowed, for a backstick, after the Chesterfield players had taken their positions back in their half (almost reminiscint of the 1997 FA cup final, when David Ellery disallowed a perfectly good goal against Middlesborough for Chesterfield).

Chesterfield went from elation to dispair in a matter of minutes though as Halifax scored an equalizer. Against the run of play, they won a penalty corner with 3 minutes left to play and expertly finished as Chesterfield heads went down. With a minute to play, Chesterfield got the ball on the spot and set off in a fired up spirit pressing forward up the pitch as a team. Jamie Gooden found player of the match, Callum Taylor at the top of the D. He was able to stop , turn and shoot, with the ball going to the keepers left, finishing just above the back board. Chesterfield had done it in the final minute, avenging last week's defeat with a performance and scoreline to be proud of.
