Ladies 1s

Raring to continue our unbeaten streak, our coach Matt called for calm. From the off it was clear that this was going to be tough. With plenty of sticks flying in, quite a few feet and the odd shoulder barge we were in for a real battle. After a lot of coming and going and quite a few short corners a bit of space gave Linz prime opportunity for a classic Linz belting goal. That woke Alford up and they pushed forward with vigour. After some good defensive work, particularly from short corners and some good saves from Charlie. We were on the back foot for a short time and after an awesome save on the line from Sarah a questionable flick was given. Charlie guessed the right way but a lot of umph was put into the shot to make it one all. Into the break we were pushing for patience and trying to take our opportunities which proved difficult with all the flying sticks, pushing and shoving saw Captain Kelly off with an injury again. We continued to keep most of the possession and they clogged the D to keep us out. A few breaks from Alford meant some last gasp glove and leg saves where required from Charlie to keep them out. After some good pressing, some super team perseverance Daisy slotted us into the lead. Defensively we worked hard as a team to keep 2-1 the final score. A great goal and the way Linz held the ball up on many occasions earned Linz our man of the match. The Chesterfield ladies 1s continue their unbeaten run.
