CHC welcomed 18 heroes onto the course devised by England Hockey and run by volunteer coaches from Chesterfield Hockey Club. Thanks to Paul, Steve & Heather and also to the sidekicks, who made it so successful - Daisy, Liberty, Amelie & David.

Talking about the course, Paul Speed, CHC's junior hockey coordinator had this to say "The Hockey Heroes programme is a brilliant initiative for us as a local club. We provide a fun environment for kids to have a go at the sport, and if they like it, they can progress into our u10 boys and girls teams. I would encourage any participants to spread the word and see if they have any friends or siblings who would like a go at hockey. The more the merrier. We also welcome any parents who may have played hockey before, to get back into the sport and come and train with our adult members."

The course benefitted from the good summer weather (although we did experience one shower & a rainbow) and the freedom of the pitch.

The idea of Hockey Heroes is to introduce kids to hockey, without making it ALL about hockey - we want to make it fun and so the kids come back every week!
It seems to have worked! On Sunday we had 3 players from HH2 and another 3 from the orignal HH group j oin our U8s for a tournament in Sheffield which they did really well in.

The HH2 graduates are offered the chance to re-join the junior training as it starts in September, and we look forward to seeing as many there as can make it! CHC runs junior sessions for 5 - 10 year olds at 6-7pm on Wednesday evenings in term time. This is streamed into smaller groups of similar level and ability - so don't worry if you think your 5 year will be up against a 10 year old, we'll make sure it's right for the kids!
