Another 8 week course, starting after Easter 2023

Hockey Heroes is returning to Chesterfield HC in April.

The idea of Hockey Heroes is to introduce kids from the ages of 5-8 years old to hockey, without making it ALL about hockey. They are fun and active sessions focussed on the kids to make it enjoyable and so they want to come back every week!

More specifically, Hockey Heroes is a 8 week hockey programme aimed at beginners that not only focuses on helping children develop some physical hockey superpowers such as dribbling, passing and goal scoring, but also places as much emphasis on character development superpowers including teamwork, communication, perseverance and respect. Our aim is for children to have lots of fun, experience lots of success, and feel like a hero! This will boost their confidence, and ensure a positive experience of physical activity and sport that will have a beneficial effect in the rest of their life.

This wil be the fourth course that the club has run over the past 2 years and we've recruited in new coaches & sidekicks to make it better and more enjoyable than ever. Since the first course run, we've been pleased to see the majority of kids coming back to junior training and moving on to play in junior U10 teams in tournaments for Chesterfield HC.

So following the Easter holidays, Chesterfield Hockey Club will be running the new Hockey Heroes course, which will start on Wednesday 18th April and run for 8 weeks.
Hopefully the course will benefit from some better weather (although we can probably still expect some rain!) and the freedom of the pitch.

Talking about the course, Paul Speed, CHC's junior hockey coordinator had this to say "The Hockey Heroes programme is a brilliant initiative for us as a local club. We provide a fun environment for kids to have a go at the sport, and if they like it, they can progress into our u10 boys and girls teams. I would encourage any participants to spread the word and see if they have any friends or siblings who would like a go at hockey. The more the merrier. We also welcome any parents who may have played hockey before, to get back into the sport and come and train with our adult members."
