Chesterfield Men's 1st team made their final trip up the A1 for the anticipated last game of the season against Marton Furness 1s.
These two sides have always had hard fought battles on the pitch, when the teams have met over the past twoseasons - and this contest was to prove no different.
To begin with, the game ebbed and flowed as both sides launched attack after attack, but with the home side proving far more clinical in front of goal.
Marton Furness opened the scoring with a flick and by half time they had a comfortable two goal lead. In the second half Chesterfield rallied and peppered the Marton Furness net with shots. The Furness goal keeper making many saves and their defence standing resilient on short corner defence.
The home side counter attacked with pace and precision powering home three more goals in the second half to run out 5-0 winners.
It was a very enjoyable game despite the score line and although relegation was on the cards a while ago, nobody gave up on the pitch.
Man of the match was departing captain and leader Rob Cooke who led from the back as he has most of the season.
