It was a wet day for the 4s and a slow start found the lads quickly 1 down following a short corner bundled in by the home team. This was replicated shortly later, with the 4’s finding themselves two down after 20 mins.

As the first half continued, the 4’s started to get into the game. Building on some solid defending, they started to create chances of their own with Wright and Ward distributing down the sides opening up opportunities. However, great goalkeeping kept out Cowley and Fisher, with the score 2-0 going into the break.

An inspirational team talk at half-time left the lads confused on who was playing where, but confident that the ‘Miracle at Meadowhead’ was on this Ryder cup weekend.

This quickly materialised into some poetic hockey, confident runs from Hooper, Lawson and Wright stretch the play, resulting with the lads being denied by the post early in the second half following a stretched save, before an individual run and fine finish from Cowley pulled one back.

Dominance in midfield by Hooper, Lawson, Brown and John "Cusco" Cusack quickly led to more chances, before a cross from Winter-Smith was confidently converted by Cowley to bring the score level.

With rain and victory in the air, the 4s continued to push. Chances followed for both teams, before a breakaway led to Cowley committing the keeper before sliding to Winter-Smith to finish into an empty net.

A couple of great saves from Hooper and some dogged defending from Marshall and McCran brought the win home.
