

Chesterfield Men’s 1st XI produced a superb second-half comeback to claim a 4–1 victory over Ben Rhydding Men’s 2nd XI in an entertaining fixture that showcased both resilience and attacking flair.
The opening stages were evenly contested, with both sides creating half-chances but unable to find a breakthrough. Chesterfield’s defence, marshalled well throughout the first half, looked composed. In midfield, player of the match Cam Taylor (pictured) produce a high intensity performance which gave Chesterfield a good foothold in the match, sparking several attacks and also looking solid in defence.
However, it was the visitors Ben Rhydding who struck first after the interval in the 40th minute, a sharp volley to take a 1–0 lead. This gave the visitors a boost and with them in the ascendancy, Chesterfield then weathered the storm for 5 minutes which proved to be a pivotal period of the match. Shortly after getting through this period without conceding any goals, Jack Hartley levelled the score for Chesterfield with a sharp finish, firing home from close range to make it 1–1.
Buoyed by the equaliser, it was Chesterfield who then began to dominate possession and push forward with confidence. The Chesterfield pressure told in the 57th minute when Hayden Davey put them ahead, calmly slotting past the keeper. Tasmanian Davey in a rich vein of form doubled his tally just seven minutes later, adding Chesterfield’s third in the 64th minute with a composed deflection high into the side netting, to give his side breathing room and a 3-1 lead; this was Davey's 5th goal in 2 matches for the Greens.
The hosts weren’t done yet. In the 67th minute, Josh Beardsley added a fourth, finishing clinically a penalty corner routine to cap off a sensational turnaround and seal all three points for Chesterfield.
It was a performance full of determination and attacking quality, as Chesterfield earned a convincing 4–1 win — a result that gives them momentum going into next weeks match against top of the table Sheffield.
