Rotherham 2s 1 – 2 Chesterfield 2s
Chesterfield 2s came from behind to win 2–1 away at Rotherham, Chesterfield having two goals disallowed, made the result tighter than it may have been.
Chesterfield dominated the first 15 minutes with great link up play down the wings which created plenty of chances but they just couldn't convert. Eventually Rotherham took the lead in the first half and went in 1–0 up at the break. Chesterfield had plenty of the ball and kept pushing, but they couldn't find a breakthrough before half-time.
The second half belonged to the visitors. Chesterfield raised the tempo with great pressing and the Rotherham back four became frustrated. Chesterfield mounted pressure upon the home side, despite having disallowed goals, they kept going and finally got the equaliser deflected in the net by Chris Cowley. With the momentum firmly with Chesterfield, the infamous number 14 Callum Taylor played a 1-2 with the Rotherham keeper, then proceeded to rifle the ball into the roof of the net to put Chesterfield 2–1. Tempers frayed in the second half with both teams receiving a green card.
Chesterfield 2’s played the better hockey and when they moved the ball around, they looked the more proficient side. Well done to Chris Cowley for being voted the man of the match.
