We’ve conquered all of Yorkshire, we’re never gonna stop, from Huddersfield to Rotherham we’ve won the flipping lot!

The final game of a spectacular season saw the so far invincible men’s third team take on a strong and determined Huddersfield Dragons side.

A fitting final game, saw a high-quality match with both sides pushing for three more points. Chesterfield took an early lead thanks to Adam Bointon stealing the ball from the left back playing a perfect pass to veteran Rob Anderson who slotted a precise ball to Joe Stuttard who smashed home from an acute angle.

The dynamic forward duo combined again to produce another high-quality goal 10 minutes into the game this time Bointon hammering the ball into the bottom corner, any pre-match nerves were now calmed.

Great work from the ever energetic and enthusiastic Max Lawson provided the assist for goal machine Rob Anderson, the team’s third goal and his 44th for the season.

A composed performance from the ever-reliable back line and high energy midfield saw Chesterfield manage their way through the first half.

If the team thought they could light the cigars at half-time skipper Paul Ryan reminded them that there was still a job to do. And this was born true when Huddersfield scored from a short corner early in the second half.

However, yet another goal of the season contender for Anderson, from a precision drilled pass from Will Winter Smith, a neat deflection found the roof of the net.

Chesterfield managed the last 15 minutes of the game which gave us plenty of time to get the champagne on ice.

At the final whistle, the Dragons were Slain, champagne bottles were popped and the celebrations could start, the pubs and clubs of Huddersfield prepared for the teams arrival.

A fantastic season was drawn to a successful conclusion and the stats speak for themselves:

Played 22, won 20, drawn 2, lost 0, 62 points, goals for 148, goals against 22.
