Chesterfield U14 boys were looking forward to this game against Sheffield following on from Chesterfield's recent win again Doncaster.

The game began at a quick pace with both teams trying to get forwards at every opportunity. Scoring opportunities did not come to Chesterfield early on, but the home team remained patient, and started to build a few attacks and also a fair amount of pressure on the Sheffield defence. With just 7 minutes on the clock, Aqeel smashed home a backhand shot from a penalty corner to make it 1-0.

Some good work from the Chesterfield defensive line of Ned, Oscar, Aqeel & Josh established a strong platform for the home team to maintain a grip on the game and the midfield benefitted from this, creating more attacks. Noah leading the line for Chesterfield was on hand to neatly convert one of these attacks to make it 2-0 after about 20 minutes. This opened the floodgates and 3 more goals quickly followed before half time. Thomas playing central midfield, got a well deserved goal after several driving runs into the Sheffield circle. Theo was then in a good position on the far post to calmy fire home from close range to make it 4-0. Thomas then turned from goalscorer to provider making a neat assist to Ted who fired home to make it 5-0.
Sheffield rallied to make it 5-1 just before half time, but the home team were well in control when the half time whistle went.

The 2nd half was slightly less eventful in terms of goals, although there were still plenty of chances at either end. Ted scored grabbing his 2nd goal of the game, calmly finishing from close range 10 minutes into the 2nd half, before Sheffield then pulled one back to make it 6-2.
Despite the scoreline, Sheffield were determined and didn't give up, forcing an injured Tyler in the Chesterfield goal to bravely make 2 or 3 good saves to keep the visitors out. The final action of the game was a strong run from Sam down the Chesterfield right wing, before unselfishly passing the ball nicely to Thomas in the centre of the Sheffield circle, and the Chesterfield midfielder smashed an unstoppable shot high into the Sheffield net. Final score 7-2 to Chesterfield.
