Chesterfield U14 boys end the 24-25 season on a high.

Leeds Adel 3 - 11 Chesterfield

Chesterfield U14 boys made the journey to Leeds this weekend for their final tier 2 crossover match against Leeds Adel.

The opening few minutes of the match were fairly even and Chesterfield looked slightly nervous at the back. Although Chesterfield were winning good tackles, they were guilty of giving the ball straight back to Leeds Adel. Visitors Chesterfield did eventually settle down, and it wasn’t too long before they started creating chances to score.
Jem Thacker opened the scoring after 10 minutes, and then just a few minutes later provided a nice assist for Noah Bingham to get on the scoresheet.

With the defensive line of Cole, Aqeel, Ned & Oscar now looking settled and very hard to beat, this provided a solid foundation on which Chesterfield could build on and start to control the game. The Chesterfield midfielders Ted Murray & Thomas Hopkinson started to combine well and cause Leeds Adel lots of problems in defence, and goals were inevitable, with Ted grabbing 2 in quick succession. Chesterfield defender Aqeel then smashed a penalty corner home, before Leeds Adel scored to give visitors Chesterfield a 5-1 lead at half time.

Chesterfield continued to go full throttle in the 2nd half with more goals coming from Samuel (2), Thomas, Aqeel, Ted, and the final goal came from Harrison who finished calmly at the far post, after a nice cross from Theo.

Tyler had another good game in goal making some good saves when required, although Leeds Adel did get 2 late consolation goals when Chesterfield were caught on the counter with players pushing up and eager to get on the scoresheet.

Player of the match was Noah who led the forward line superbly with a text book performance of how to play the position; holding the ball up intelligently before unselfishly setting up countless scoring opportunities for other team-mates. His pressing was also first rate - putting in a serious amount of running, to win tackles and forcing lots of errors in the Leeds Adel defence.

Thanks go to all the boys who have improved massively this season, and not least to their parents who have supported the team so well, in what has been a very enjoyable season for Chesterfield U14 boys.
