CHC Women’s 1s Secure Dominant 7–0 Away Win in Final Game of the Season
A sunny trip up to Ben Rhydding set the scene for the final outing of the season for the already-promoted Chesterfield Hockey Club Women’s 1s. The line-up largely unchanged from previous weeks, with Moore back in.
Captain Kendellen’s pre-match message was simple: enjoy it, be proud of the season’s work, try new things, and finish on a high.
CHC started brightly, with sharp forward movements earning several penalty corners inside the opening ten minutes. A slick injection found Kenney at the top of the circle, who fed Elliot to calmly slot home the opener. 1–0 Elliot (10')
Relentless pressure followed. Davies, Kenney, Robinson and Witts all fired efforts on goal before Kenney doubled the lead with a composed strike from the top of the D after skipping past several Rhydding defenders. 2–0 Kenney (15')
As the half progressed, the evergreens continued to threaten, while Rhydding began to find brief pockets of space on the counter. Each effort from the home side was dealt with confidently by the Chesterfield defence.
At halftime, Kendellen’s message remained upbeat: keep pushing, enjoy the hockey, and add more goals.
CHC wasted no time doing exactly that going into the second half. A smooth outlet from Moore found Davies, who slipped the ball to Elliot to score CHC’s third of the afternoon. 3–0 Elliot (40')
From there, Chesterfield surged forward with purpose. Further goals came from Davies and also Kenney who, eager to match Davies’ tally from the previous week, went on to secure an impressive four-goal haul.
It was an excellent all-round performance and the perfect way to close out a standout season for the squad.
