

It was an usually hot Saturday afternoon that saw Chesterfield’s 2nd team take on Chapeltown at home. Despite the soaring temperatures, the match was packed with intensity and excitement, with the game delayed slightly due to previous games running over.
The action started quickly with Chapeltown earning a corner in the 3rd minute. However, they were unable to convert, and Chesterfield quickly found their rhythm. An aerial ball from Abi G found Elise, but her strike on goal was expertly saved by the Chapeltown goalkeeper’s hand.
The opening 10 minutes were fast-paced and end-to-end, with both teams showing great attacking intent. In the 11th minute, Chesterfield earned a corner, but the chance was not converted, and Chapeltown were able to clear the danger. Chesterfield then started to apply more pressure, with Sara sending a ball to Jasmine in the D. Jasmine finished coolly, giving Chesterfield the 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.
As the temperature soared, play continued at a high pace, and in the 19th minute, Chesterfield had another corner. Elise’s strike came off the keeper’s face, and the goal was denied. Nic, ever the fashionista, displayed a unique way of wearing her cropped shirt as the match carried on.
At halftime, Chesterfield were 1-0 up, but Chapeltown had shown they could pose a threat, making it clear that the match was far from decided.

Chapeltown didn’t give up, and despite some fierce shots from Elise, they continued to battle. In the 43rd minute, Chesterfield earned a short corner, but it was quickly closed down by the Chapeltown defence. A few minutes later, in the 48th minute, Chapeltown earned a corner of their own, but Anna’s well-timed defensive clearance ensured that the ball was safely cleared. However, they surged again a minute later, and Emma’s shout to "mark up" from the defence was a clear sign of the pressure Chesterfield were under.
Despite the heat, Chesterfield regrouped and started another wave of attacks. Abi G passed to Nic, who laid it off to Sara. The ball was driven down the right, but Chapeltown’s defence stopped it in its tracks. However, Chesterfield continued to look dangerous, with Heather, Sara, and Elise linking up well and playing some great triangles.
In the 58th minute, Jasmine grabbed her third goal of the match, a ball that trickled over the line to make it 4-0 to Chesterfield. The intensity didn’t let up, and in the 63rd minute, Elise’s driven ball found Abi L, who fired it across to Jasmine for a quick finish, giving Chesterfield a 5-0 lead.
Chapeltown continued to push, bringing the ball quickly to the other end, but Chesterfield’s defence, led by Anna, Emma, Abi.G and Lauren, held firm. In the 67th minute, Chesterfield earned another corner, with Chloe driving the ball in and Emma striking, but the keeper saved the attempt. A long corner followed, but Chapeltown were able to clear.
Despite the heat, Chesterfield stayed on top , and with a fatigued but determined team, they held on for the 5-0 victory, earning a well-deserved three points. It was a fantastic team performance and a big well done to all the players for a brilliant result on a sweltering day!
