

Storm Amy might’ve tried to drown the game with wind and rain, but Chesterfield 2’s weren’t fazed. They showed real teamwork and determination from start to finish.
Anna, Emma, and Nehir were rock-solid at the back. Hard-working midfielders dropped back to support as the Bankers tested Chesterfield’s defence. Despite the difficult conditions, an early short corner from the visitors snuck past keeper Loz after a slight deflection. This gave Sheffield Bankers the first goal of the match. Their second came not long after. Lauren made a couple of saves in quick succession, but the Bankers eventually managed to bundle the ball over the line.
Chesterfield refused to be discouraged. Abi L made an impressive run at goal, taking on the Bankers’ keeper with confidence before being tackled. Throughout the match, Loz, Nic, Sophia, and Sam worked tirelessly. They pushed through the Bankers’ midfield and created several attacking opportunities. Jas, Abi, and Esme kept the pressure on up front. They forced the visiting defence to stay on its toes.
A motivating half-time team talk spurred Chesterfield back into action. The home side came out determined to find the goal they deserved. With her lovely, freshly done hair, Alex came to the rescue in the second half, giving Chesterfield a much-needed sub as the weather continued to rage and the Bankers kept pushing hard.
Chesterfield's hard work and effort paid off when they earned a short corner. Emma fired in a powerful shot that the keeper initially saved, but as the ball ricocheted high into the air, Chesterfield reacted first, working the ball around the keeper with Esme assisting Emma for Chesterfield's first goal.
The Bankers, however, weren’t finished. They pushed back hard, testing Chesterfield’s defence with a series of attacks. Despite brave efforts and more great saves, the visitors eventually found a third goal late in the game. The final whistle blew at 3–1 just as the wind eased and the rain finally stopped, typical.
Despite the score, Chesterfield 2s can hold their heads high after a strong, spirited performance in brutal conditions, as every player gave it their all.
