With drizzle in the air, Saturday 5th Dec saw Chesterfield 2XI play away against 2nd position Leopold 1st XI. It was important to all rise to the occasion and play with freedom.
Captain Holly set up the team stating initially in my defence would be Lauren, Anna, Lucy, Emma and Holly herself.
In the first 15 minutes, Chesterfield put Leopold under pressure but a goal was out of reach.
Leopold began to counter attack, it was Chesterfield's turn to be under pressure. Lauren saved numerous shots stating they "can't take on me with a straight strike".
Leopold responded, we knew a change was gonna come with them attacking from a better angle.

After 40 minutes, we were 4-0 down and when the going gets tough Lucy stepped up and drove the ball up the pitch like a bat out of hell, with the pass resulting in simply the best goal from Abi G.

The midfield, comprising of Kelly, Sam, Nehir, Nic and Kara knew how to work it, moving the ball towards the forwards.
Esme gathered up the ball, spinning around to pass across the pitch for another attack.

Abi L and Jodie kept running, side by side with great link ups.

After the 2nd goal was scored by Lucy, Nic began to jump around as she had finally got on the spreadsheet.

At 4-2 down Chesterfield realised it's now or never, we had to keep on moving.

Sadly, the win was out of reach but scoring 2 goals made it respectable. We now step into Christmas in 7th position.

POM votes went to Abi.L, Nic, Nehir and Hol, but joint POM goes to our incredible Keeps Loz with her outstanding saves AND to the ever-positive, and ever-there to force that ball forward, Lucy -very well deserved.
