Chesterfield ladies 2s went into the match with a positive mindset after a confident talk from captain Holly which led to an excellent performance and victory.

The opening minutes of the game belonged firmly to chesterfield with a strong attempt in the D by Megan. This encouraged the rest of the chesterfield ladies to charge towards the D and keep the ball in the opposition’s half. The midfield which was made up of Freya, Sam, Kel, Megan, Kara and Nehir, worked extremely hard to get the ball to the forwards which Kara creating crucial positions which allowed them to take multiple shots at goal. Although chesterfield didn’t score in the first half, the ladies evidently maintained in possession of the game which frustrated Doncaster.

In the second half, chesterfield ignored angry Doncaster and entered the game positively again. This was rewarded with a goal from Nehir who then created a chain reaction of goals as Jodie scored the minute later (assisted by Abi) which was then followed by another goal from Emma from a well executed short corner ( assisted by Abi) giving chesterfield a lead of 3-0. Doncaster responded with a goal gained from a short corner making the score 3-1. However, this did not phase chesterfield as Nehir and Megan continued to run up and down the pitch which was rewarded by Esme assisting Jodie who scores once again to progress the score to 4-1. By this point Doncaster caught on that they couldn't score open goals due to our defence, made up of Holly, Sarah and Emma, putting up a brick wall around the D, making it incredibly hard for Doncaster to have shots meaning they were forced to gain another short corner which did result in a goal making the score 4-2. Although they tried to close the gap, Abi and Jodie refused to let this happen so Jodie assisted Abi who scored another excellent goal making the final score 5-2.
