After a busy Saturday of fixtures, a full squad of 16 over 35s, lead by ever- enthusiastic Abi G, took to pitch at St Mary's for their first ever match against Leeds Adel.
CHC started strong and only a few minutes in, not so much hit the back board, but stunned everyone (including the dumbfounded scorer Nicole) with a trickle over the line beating a wall of orange.
This was quickly followed by a well executed short which saw Emma C on the post dink the ball in for a second.
CHC continued the drive for goals and were constantly challenging the Adel defence with a combination of strong crosses in from both sides of the pitch and also tricky triangles through the middle usually with Meg displaying incredible speed, agility and 3D skills. The Chesterfield defensive line comprised of Anna, Karena, Simone and the Emmas, were composed throughout, giving very little away and ensuring that GK Charlie has a relatively quiet game.
It was a swiftly taken 16 that lead to Chesterfield's third. A well timed ball found Kara on the left who lined it to Nicole. A strong drive in and a release to Jodie resulted in another well executed goal.
In the final minutes of the first half, a ball passed back out found Ruth on the edge of the D. Surprised to not be pressed by the defence, Ruth cleanly hit the ball past the keeper for Chesterfield's fourth.
Legs clearly started to tire on both sides in the second half, but Chesterfield continued to press.
A short corner provided the fifth and final goal. Injected by Kara to the top of the D, Abi G connected well with the ball and it ricochet off the keeper and in a D scrap, the ball was finally tapped over the line by Nic.
Not giving up to the very end, the ball continued to be distributed to both sides of the pitch: Heather on the right and Sam on the left. Both being a menace to the bare 11 of Adel.
The sound of the whistle was met with cheers from both sides...a lovely game played in great spirits.
