The cup is over and eyes are now set on the trophy

As the fog set over St Mary's, Ben Rhydding O35s who won silver medal in the cup last year, and Chesterfield in their inaugural campaign, both took to the pitch for round 2 of the cup.

Chesterfield set out to make sure everything was earnt and that we gave Ben Rhydding a game.

From the first whistle the onslaught that would continue throughout the game was off. BEN Rhydding were clearly a well drilled, skillful team with eyes set on the Cup.
The game was played in quarters and for a full 17.5 minutes Ben Rhydding attacked and put ball after ball into the D and at the goal.
Chesterfield held strong and maintained the discipline they had set out to maintain, resulting in a 0-0 first quarter.

The second quarter Ben Rhydding really came out of the blocks, unhappy with not scoring in the first 17 they were determined to set this right and continued a flurry of attacks.

GK Charlie Calderbank continued to make save after save, the defence and midfield worked tirelessly but eventually the dam broke and Chesterfield conceded 4 goals in quick succession.
The goals were all excellent, and Chesterfield ensured that if the opposition did score, it wasn't handed on a plate and was worked for.

The 3rd quarter Chesterfield continued to battle, some valiant defending by Emma Chapman, Sarah Calderbank and Karena Moore squashed the attack of the opposition.
Chesterfield were able to make a few breaks with some great forward runs from Jodie Taylor with Lauren Walton and Megan Marr distributing the ball to her. Ben Rhydding held strong and broke down the play each time.

Ben Rhydding continued to attack and scored another 2.

The final quarter started 0-6.
Abi Grocutt dropped back into defense and was able to send a couple of Ariel's into the attacking half to try and overcome the sea of white in front of us, Chesterfield again showed a few glimmers of hope including Lauren Walton managing to get a shot off which the keeper saved.
A penalty corner and the final whistle. The defense set out to ensure nothing crossed the line, and GK Charlie Calderbank made sure of this. The game ended with an incredible strike from top D, and an unbelieve save from Charlie, which meant we didn't concede in the final quarter.

Final score 0-6

Chesterfield played valiantly, and with heart and grit, pleased with the outcome they will now go on to face Leek in the Trophy.
