7. International Player Liaison

CHC is looking for a welcoming, positive and organised person to be the point of contact for our international players, who join us for the season at Chesterfield Hockey Club. This voluntary role is an essential part of our club as quite often these players move to Chesterfield and require support to get settled, find flights, organise transport to training and more recently, translate Spanish! (This is not an essential part of the role).

As part of our new Player Liaison team, we would develop a new process to help new international players to continue to feel welcome and to have a positive experience in Chesterfield and with Chesterfield Hockey Club, increasing our chances that they may return and/or spread the positive experience of their time at CHC to other players.

Responsibilities in the role would include:

  • Be the main point of contact between the club and international players, allowing them to focus on their hockey and pointing the right club member to their issues.
  • Being a keen problem solver to ensure the players are comfortable and having an enjoyable time in England. Usually, these are just minor household mishaps/DIY jobs that club members join together to help out with.
  • Helping to create a welcoming, fun atmosphere for them to settle the nerves of travelling to a foreign country to play hockey, including organising events and “days out” with their teammates. You will not be expected to host or entertain - let their teammates and other club members do that!
  • Organising flights to/from their home country and then transport via other members to ensure they are able to play, train and coach as part of their role at the club
  • Help to promote the club and it’s international reach using the our links with the media outlets, both locally and further

Please apply by sending a short paragraph and a CV (for general work/a previous application) to Rob Anderson on rob@andersons-ea.co.uk. Please include the role you are interested in working with as part of the email subject.
